Steam shower room installation in Sydney

Nu-Trend is a steam shower room installer in Sydney that can build a brand new room or convert your existing bathroom. Using our renovating experience we can figure out how to renovate your bathroom so that a new steam shower can be made part of the floor plan including the extra hardware and plumbing needed. As an experienced renovation contractor in Sydney we can demolish and then build a brand new steam shower equipped bathroom in practically any type of home, unit or apartment.

For all the bathroom renovations that we construct in Sydney, we always recommend doing a full demolish of the existing room. It means we are stripping back every item from the furniture, fittings, tiling and even the waterproofing to be able to work with freshly prepared surfaces. Taking this approach can ensure everything is renovated to a high standard because any new renovation work is done from scratch compared to trying to make adjustments to pre-existing conditions in a building. This is even more important for older homes like the ones around Leichhardt that may have old plumbing systems or flooring.

Converting an existing walk in shower to a steam shower room in Sydney

You can convert your existing walk in shower to have steam

The existing bathroom in this home in Dural was in good condition and the shape was very easy to work with. It already had an existing walk in shower but the home owners wanted to convert this into a steam shower room. Their first option could have been to enclose the existing space with floor to ceiling glass and then add the steam shower hardware by making new openings in the existing walls. Although they wanted to update their bathroom and give it a new look and feel with brighter colours and new furniture.

Renovating a bathroom to look like a day spa

As you can see in the before and after photo above the old bathroom had a dark grey colour palette while the new one has a much brighter, warmer feel to it with the use of more natural tones. The room is set off with the kit kat style feature wall and lovely wide seat in the steam shower room.

How does steam shower hardware get added to a bathroom

Every home layout will be different but if you want to add a steam shower to your existing bathroom there has to be space for the steam generator, wall switches, steam outlet and all the necessary plumbing. You might have a linen cupboard that backs onto the bathroom or maybe there is space externally to the home to be able to set all this up. For this home getting a steam shower in Dural we constructed a custom made maintenance box on the outside wall of the home.

To make sure this looked integrated with the home it was built with stone capping to match other external walls, rendered wall faces, louvred lockable doors for easy access, extra storage to make the box flush with the wall & of course painted to match the house colour. This is an example of how it is possible to add a steam shower to an existing bathroom by coming up with clever installation choices.

Plumber that can install a steam shower and new bathroom plumbing in Sydney

The other aspect that has to be considered when adding a steam shower room to a home is the additional plumbing that is required. The existing bathroom plumbing can be used but modifications need to be made to get water to the generator and then channelled through the wall to the steam outlet in the shower. We can run new piping, install new taps and other items to make this possible for existing or new bathroom layouts.

Customised choices for a steam shower installation

Windows
An important factor when getting a new steam shower built is ventilation. While it is important to trap the steam inside the steam room while in use, it is important to be able to properly ventilate the room afterwards. For this bathroom it had a full length louvre window and an additional window over the toilet creating plenty of open air gaps for steam to escape.

Electronic controls
Adding technology into a bathroom is possible like home automation, temperature controls, music or lighting control. This can add a touch of luxury to the bathroom while giving it a more premium feeling while using it.

Drain waste
To save money on renovations of a shower some people will choose to install a simple drain waste that you can buy from Bunnings or Reece.

These are fine of course, but if you want a touch of luxury then, a custom made floor waste can be integrated into the floor tiling so that it becomes almost ‘invisible’ when you look into the room. The wider opening can also capture more water too.

Underfloor heating
Old bathrooms can have underfloor heating installed. Just because it is an old home doesn’t mean it can’t have modern technology added. The owners wanted to make sure the bathroom felt quite luxurious, so underfloor heating was installed after we finished the new flooring and waterproofing.

Skylight installation
Apart from using brighter coloured tiles you can add light to a bathroom by installing a new skylight into the ceiling. This can help give the bathroom a bright, airy feeling and some models can even open to help with ventilation.

Tap placement
Every bathroom design needs to be checked and double checked. Our tradespeople will make sure that every item is spaced correctly and in the right locations before we complete the renovation work to install them.

Bathroom plumbing changes
Our team includes renovators and plumbers so this means we can adjust bathroom plumbing pipes either internally or externally. We can solve water leak problems, move connections and do other things that some renovators won’t be able to do.

What else did our company do in this steam shower installation in Dural, Sydney?

#1 PROTECTED THE PROPERTY

Doing as many house renovation projects as we do, we understand how stressful they can be for people trying to live through them. Most tradies also make a big mess. We make sure we protect your property with floor and wall coverings to make sure nothing is damaged while we are renovating your house.

#2 PLUMBING & FLOORING INSPECTION

Nu-Trend is a licensed plumber which is an advantage when you are renovating a bathroom. For every project we inspect all the plumbing to make sure it is ready for use. We conduct a CCTV Camera Inspection of your piping and if required a high pressure jet blast to make sure everything is ready.

#3 TAKING CARE OF THE PROPERTY

It is the small things that count. We will check things like how your pets get into the house, if neighbours require access to driveways or other things that are important to how you live in your home to make sure everything goes smoothly during a renovation.

#4 RUBBISH REMOVAL

Some renovation contractors will not include this in their service, they might leave the rubbish from the demolition in your backyard or on the street. Nu-Trend will make sure all the materials and rubbish that are not used are removed neatly ensuring your property isn’t left in a mess and neighbours are happy.

#5 PRECISE MEASUREMENTS & PREPARATION

We make sure that each part of the renovation project is not only done in accordance to Australian Standards but is precise, measured and correctly prepared.

This includes things like doing a laser level check for the screed and tile height pre start off the plan to make sure the right falls are created.

#6 CUSTOM DRAIN GRATES

For every bathroom renovation project we do we will typically have custom designed drain grates created so they fit your space perfectly.

Same applies for most shower renovations that we do, rather than use off the shelf screens, in most cases we will recommend a custom cut shower screen so it can perfectly fit your room.
