Nu Trend was contracted to renovate two bathrooms in a house in Sylvania. The home owner wanted to renovate both bathrooms at the same time which can help save money vs doing them at different intervals as it reduces the number of visits from tradespeople, means materials are bought at the same time & can also help to keep colours, textures & fittings consistent too.

The clever interior design choices included large format floor and wall tiling, full glass shower screen and wall hung vanity to create a feeling of space, fresh air as well as plenty of ventilation. The colour palette in this bathroom is neutral and sophisticated, creating a timeless and luxurious feel. Key colours include;
- Soft Beige and Light Grey: The large-format wall and floor tiles feature a muted beige to light grey tone, serving as the primary background colour. This neutral base adds warmth and depth to the space.
- White: The freestanding bathtub, sinks, and vanity countertops are bright white, adding a clean and fresh contrast against the warmer tones.
- Brushed Gold: Fixtures such as the taps, handles, and shower fittings are finished in brushed gold, introducing a subtle yet striking metallic accent that adds elegance and richness to the design.
- Muted Grey-White: The wall-hung vanity features textured drawer fronts in a soft greyish-white shade, complementing the neutral tones of the tiles.
- Black: The original window frame was retained and it is finished in matte black, providing a modern and bold contrast that frames the light and balances the softer colours in the room.
This balanced palette combines warm and cool tones with clean whites and luxurious metallics, creating a harmonious and inviting space.
The main bathroom had a typical rectangular shape and approximately 4m x 4m in size, larger than most bathrooms. So it was relatively easy to build and renovate within the space, the bath, shower, toilet and vanity were not moving location so once demolition was complete it was a matter of rebuilding the bathroom with each item in the same location.
The ensuite bathroom was L shaped, so it too was relatively straight forward to renovate and had plenty of space for a double vanity, new toilet and large walk in shower.

Concealed floor waste
One of the unique aspects of every bathroom we renovate is to include a custom made, concealed, floor waste in the shower. Instead of having a large circular drain with unusual cuts made to the floor tiles, we design the floor waste to not only capture the most amount of water, but blend into the floor tiling to give the room a discrete look, similar to what you would experience in a hotel or day spa.
